I don't know why, but the drabble set somehow evolved into a oneshot. And no, I can't find Enma icons, and yes, I freaking hate him right now.
I trusted you.
I never doubted you for a second.
Please don’t make me regret my decision.
Please don’t make me hate you.
I never intended to hurt you.
I never wanted to make you cry.
Give me your trust again.
I swear I’ll protect you with my life.

2 DAYS BEFORE THE INHERITANCE CEREMONY
“Enma-kun~” her tinkling voice floated throughout the hallway of Namimori Chuu, and within seconds, Kozato Enma was tackled by a violet-haired woman. “Enma-kun~” she said yet again.
“A—Ah… Rin-san.” Enma said as the red hue flooded his cheeks. He found it surprising that she loved on tackling him from behind and clinging on his neck.
Students who were on the hallways narrowed their eyes at the scene. Whispers followed. They all wondered why would a girl like Daidouji Rin would hang out with a loser like Kozato Enma. Then again, she’s also friends with Dame-Tsuna. And so, they concluded that maybe, Rin likes losers.
“Rin-san,” Enma addressed to the girl who’s still clinging on his neck, timidly, “people are getting the wrong idea.”
Rin released her grip on Enma’s neck and pouted. “Am I a nuisance to you, Enma-kun?” she asked.
Enma waved his hands in front of him and stuttered, “N—no! O—of course not, Rin-san.”
The pout on Rin’s face was replaced by a smile because of Enma’s words. And so, instead of the usual clinging on Enma’s neck, Rin just placed an arm over his shoulder and said, “You shouldn’t really listen to them Enma-kun. They’re just a bunch of people who can’t mind their own business.”
“B—but Rin-san—”
“Do I look like I care about the rumors they spread?”
Enma shook his head and said, “No.”
“Then you shouldn’t too. After all, almost all of those rumors were false.” Rin happily quipped as she and Enma started walking away.
Silence ensued between. The both of them were used to the periodic silence that would instantly form when they would be talking. Normally, it would be Rin, who would be breaking the silence using her quirky comments, but it was Enma who talked first.
“A—about the Inheritance Ceremony the day after tomorrow…” he trailed off, unsure on what to say. He opened his mouth to continue, but his words failed him. He wanted to tell her that… That maybe she shouldn’t come at the Inheritance Ceremony.
Rin looked contemplative for a moment before saying, “Will I be seeing you there, Enma-kun?” She turned to the red-haired lad and smiled at him again.
Enma gulped and looked down. He couldn’t bear to see her smile, knowing that he’ll betray her. Guiltily, he said, “Y—yeah.”
1 DAY BEFORE THE INHERITANCE CEREMONY
The sight of the bloody Yamamoto shook her. She was with Sasagawa when they noticed that the door to the baseball team locker room was open. And when they went in, it was then they found Yamamoto, lying in a pool of blood. His own blood.
Rin’s knees buckled and she collapsed beside Yamamoto. Her eyes were wide and still staring at the bloodied guardian. She was too shocked to notice that Yamamoto’s blood was already seeping in on her skirt and socks. “Y—Yamamoto-kun…” she said softly.
And then everything happened too fast. The next thing Rin knew that she was already in the hospital with the Gokudera, Sasagawa, Chrome, Lambo, Tsuna, Reborn and the members of the Shimon Famiglia. She only became aware of the blood on her hands and clothes when Chrome pointed it out and said that she’ll accompany her to change. And when they returned to the waiting area in front of the operating room, the Shimon Family was not there and Reborn was talking about message Yamamoto left on the floor.
Rin was unable to take it anymore. She couldn’t even think of a person who would attack the kind and cheerful Yamamoto. She excused herself from the group and went outside of the hospital. The air inside the hospital was suffocating her. It was very stuffy in there. And when she was already outside, she took out her cellphone and dialed the number of the person she knew who would always be there to help her out.
“E—Enma-kun?”
Enma noticed the distress on Rin’s voice and so he asked her, “Is there something wrong, Rin-san?”
And without hesitation, Rin cried. She told Enma on how scared she was when she saw Yamamoto. She told him how scared she was for the safety of her friends. She told him how furious she was on Yamamoto’s attacker. She told him a lot of things.
The only thing that Enma could do was to console her and tell her that everything will be alright, and deep inside he was cursing himself, for he was the one who’s causing her all this distress.
THE DAY OF THE INHERITANCE CEREMONY
The Inheritance Ceremony was pushed through, as if nothing happened. Many influential families came to witness the Inheritance Ceremony for the Vongola Juudaime. Enma and his family members were surprised to see Yamamoto, but they were quick to catch up that he was only an illusion. No matter what happens, they’ll have their revenge today on the Vongola Family.
“What’s wrong Enma?” Adelheid asked Enma when she noticed their boss’ attention was not with them, but to the crowd before them.
Enma just shook his head and said, “Nothing.”
Julie just smirked and commented, “You looking for her? Didn’t manage to tell her that she shouldn’t go today?”
The usual disapproving face of Koyo over Enma’s acts appeared yet again. “How long will you stay like that? Very pathetic. Why can’t you just tell straight to her face that you’ll be wiping out the Vongola and she shouldn’t come today so she won’t get involved,” he snarled.
“Stop it at once, Koyo.” Adelheid chastised Koyo. The guy was supposed to snap back but when he saw Adelheid’s glare, he just backed down. Adelheid turned back to Enma and asked, “You didn’t tell her?”
Enma just shook his head as his answer. No need to tell them that he chickened out at the last minute.
Koyo was about to comment once again but he was interrupted by a familiar voice shouting Enma’s name. “Enma-kun!”
They all turned around and saw Rin running towards them. And when she reached the group, she began tugging Enma’s hand and said, “Come on. Tsuna-kun’s Inheritance Ceremony is about to start, and I don’t want to miss it. After this, I’m going to make fun of him on how silly he looks like.”
Enma just let Rin drag him to the room where the Ceremony was going to take place. It was too late to tell her that she shouldn’t be there. And he just hopes that Rin was going to forgive him on what he was going to do next.
Just like yesterday, it happened too fast. One moment, I was just standing beside Enma-kun, watching the Kyuudaime pass on the Vongola “Sin” to Tsuna-kun when a screeching noise was heard. A loud explosion followed the screeching noise. I could feel the anxiety washing over me again. What if one of my friends was going to be attacked again? I couldn’t bear to see the blood anymore.
Smoke enveloped the room and I couldn’t see a thing. Shouts were heard everywhere. The guests panicked and the Cavallone Boss shouted something. I couldn’t hear it clearly anymore because of the loud voices everywhere.
When the smoke cleared, we saw that the Ninth was attacked and the bottle holding the “Sin” was broken. And they were there, standing in front of us, claiming that the “Sin” belongs to them, the Shimon Family.
Enma-kun admitted that they were the ones who attacked Yamamoto-kun and they said that they needed the “Sin” in order to regain their power and take their revenge on Vongola. They also said that the “Sin” was actually the blood of the Primo of the Shimon Family. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The Vongola Family where I swore my loyalty was being accused of something treacherous. But Tsuna-kun is right. Vongola Primo is a man who could never do such things.
But those words seemed to anger the Shimon Family even more. Then my worst fears happened. My friends were being attacked. I shouted at him to stop, but it seems that he didn’t hear me. I stepped forward to stop him but one of the Varia members stopped me, saying that it’s too dangerous for me to come close, but I can’t just stand there watching my friends getting hurt.
But it was too late. Tsuna-kun was already unconscious and so where the others. Koyo was walking away with an unconscious Chrome-chan but I won’t let them get away.
Then I felt Enma-kun’s eyes on me. Hate coursed through me. I could feel the tears stinging the corner of my eyes. I shouted, “How could you, Enma-kun?” I tried to sound brave, but my voice cracked, showing my true feelings. “I trusted you, Enma-kun! I trusted you! How could you betray me?”
I never felt so betrayed in my life. It hurts so much that someone whom you trust with your life could betray you. “You’re a liar, Enma-kun! Lies! What you and Adelheid said were all lies! Primo could never do such things! You want to destroy the Vongola? Over my dead body, Enma-kun!” My throat ached due to my shouting, but it was nothing compared to the pain on my chest right now. I was about to shout something again when I felt a force pushed me and I collided on the wall.
Enma-kun…
He was really serious about destroying the Vongola…
He’s going to kill me too…
And I think you all know who was talking at the last part. It didn't turn out the way I wanted [again] but meh, I'll take what I can get.Labels: Daidouji Rin, KHR, Kozato Enma, oneshot, Tradimento, writing
